Who Are The Red Clay Strays?
According to their website, The Red Clay Strays are a Southern rock and country band from Mobile, Alabama, made up of Brandon Coleman, Drew Nix, Zach Rishel, Andrew Bishop, John Hall, and keyboardist Sevans Henderson. The group formed as young, working-class musicians influenced by bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd and built their following by playing small bars and venues across the Gulf Coast.
The band released its debut album, Moment of Truth, in 2022. Songs like Stone’s Throw,” “Do Me Wrong,” and “Wondering Why” helped put them on the map, with “Wondering Why” becoming a viral hit and reaching the Top 10 on Billboard’s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart.
Their success led to a record deal with RCA Records and a partnership with Grammy-winning producer Dave Cobb. Their 2024 album, Made by These Moments, became their first album to appear on the Billboard 200 and reached the Top 10 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.
The band has since performed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, CBS Saturday Morning, and NPR’s Tiny Desk. They also earned a CMA nomination and won a Billboard Music Award for Top Country Group.
The Red Clay Strays have continued to grow their audience with sold-out tours, major festivals, and headline shows, including three nights at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium. Their latest single, “People Hatin’,” has continued that momentum, bringing even more attention to the Mobile, Alabama, band and its blend of country, soul, and Southern rock.
