For various reasons, including practicality and income levels, Maine tends to be a state of pickup trucks, SUVs, and all-wheel-drive sedans.

However, while they are rare, we do occasionally see luxury vehicles and sports cars on Maine's roads.

This is generally more true during the summer months when wealthy vacationers make their way to our state.

In addition to the occasional Aston Martin and Maserati, we do sometimes see a Ferrari.

Several years ago, during the height of Maine's summer tourist season, the owner of one practically new Ferrari had their vehicle stolen and then crashed.

According to WMTW, the incident happened in July of 2022.  On the morning of July 24th, police were called to the Cliff House in Cape Neddick for the report of a gray 2021 Ferrari CP 812GT.

The value of the vehicle?  About $400,000!

The car had last been seen by a security guard at about 11:30 on the previous night.  The keys were reportedly locked away in the valet box.

Police quickly made the connection between the stolen vehicle and a crash that happened earlier that morning at the intersection of Route 1 and Mountain Road.  By the time police arrived on the scene, the person driving the vehicle was long gone.

As we near the third anniversary of the theft, a reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the person (or people) responsible.

The Cliff House is putting up $1,500 and Seacoast Crimestoppers is putting up $1,000.  This makes for a total reward of $2,500.
