Maine DEA Arrests Fairfield Man Following Lengthy Investigation
According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety's Shannon Moss, a Fairfield man has been arrested following a months-long investigation into the sale of illegal drugs from a residence on Kelley Street.
The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency South Central District Task Force and Fairfield Police Department say 45-year-old Robert Ruiz faces two counts of aggravated trafficking in Schedule W drugs and one count of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
According to investigators, undercover purchases of cocaine and fentanyl were made from Ruiz at his residence at 4 Kelley Street. Agents subsequently obtained search warrants for the home and Ruiz's vehicle.
The warrants were served Thursday, September 10, with assistance from Maine State Police and Fairfield Police. Ruiz was taken into custody without incident shortly after leaving his residence.
Authorities seized 134 grams of cocaine hydrochloride, 90 grams of fentanyl, 8 grams of cocaine base and 4 grams of methamphetamine. Two firearms, including a handgun and a 12-gauge semi-automatic shotgun, were also seized, along with $24,131 in suspected drug proceeds and a money counter.
Investigators estimate the street value of the drugs at approximately $27,000.
Ruiz is being held at the Somerset County Correctional Facility on $100,000 cash bail. Authorities say additional arrests are expected as the investigation continues.
