Police in Skowhegan Arrest 3 During Drug Bust
According to an article on the WGME website, a routine traffic stop in Skowhegan Saturday night ended with three arrests and the seizure of significant amounts of fentanyl and cocaine, according to police.
Authorities say an officer stopped a vehicle on Middle Road at about 9 p.m. after noticing it did not have a registration plate and had an excessively loud exhaust.
During the stop, a police K-9 was deployed and alerted officers to the possible presence of drugs inside the vehicle. A subsequent search reportedly uncovered 91.83 grams of fentanyl, 27.37 grams of cocaine, and more than 54 grams of what police described as a cutting substance commonly used in the distribution of illegal drugs.
Police arrested 30-year-old Sadie MacDonald of Fairfield, 51-year-old Louis Lopez, and 38-year-old Michael Griffin of Farmingdale.
MacDonald and Lopez were each charged with aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs and unlawful possession of scheduled drugs. Police say Lopez also faces an additional charge of unsworn falsification.
Griffin was charged with operating after suspension, failing to provide proof of insurance, and operating a vehicle without a valid inspection sticker.
*NOTE - All suspects are considered innocent until found guilty in a court of law
The investigation remains ongoing.
