On Tuesday, Skowhegan selectmen honored a local hero for his bravery.

According to the KJ, Town of Skowhegan selectmen have honored Skowhegan Police Department officer Timothy Williams for his December 2nd rescue of a mother and her 4 year old son from a burning home.

Williamson, the first to arrive at the blaze, crawled through thick smoke to rescue Andrea Curtis, 24, and then her son, Tyler Curtis-Benson, 4.

Brian Curtis, Andrea's father, praised Williamson, saying, “How many people would just throw their life and make a stupid decision like he did and save another’s life? That’s a true hero.”
