Maine State Trooper Dennis Quint totaled the state cruiser he was driving when striking a moose on US Route 1 in northern Maine. He was responding to a moose-vehicle collision Tuesday night in Cyr Plantation, Maine.

The trooper was taken to Cary Medical Center in Caribou where he was treated and released for cuts to his head and hands.

26 year-old Melissa Martin and her passenger, Darlene Dias, 30, of Van Buren, were also taken to Cary Medical Center where they were treated for injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

This is the second moose-vehicle collision to occur in the past few days.
