Generations of New Englanders have grown up visiting Story Land in Glen, New Hampshire.

Around since the 1950s, the amusement park has grown exponentially over the decades.  When it first opened, it was little more than a gift shop and a fire truck.  Now, seven decades later, the park has dozens of rides, games, shows, and food vendors.

Many of these rides, like the Polar Coaster, have become iconic.

As the park prepares to open for its 70th season, the finishing touches are being put on Story Land’s newest attraction: Moo Lagoon.

What is Moo Lagoon?

The Story Land website indicates that the new attraction is a farm-themed water park.  However, unlike the Oceans of Fun Sprayground, it is way bigger, and features multiple waterslides.

The website says, in part:

Zip down water slides of all sizes, then drench your friends with all kinds of silly sprayers. There’s water every which way with squirting flowers, farm-themed fountains and even a tractor that soaks. Bring the whole family because there’s fun for kids of all sizes, from tots to tweens.

Moo Lagoon will also feature a store selling swimwear needs, as well as a new pizza restaurant.

What does Moo Lagoon cost?

For decades, a ticket to Story Land allowed access to all the park had to offer.  You could ride any of the rides and attend any of the shows.  The only things you needed to pay extra for were food and souvenirs.

The addition of Moo Lagoon has changed that policy.

If you purchased your tickets before the middle of March, Moo Lagoon access was included in your ticket price.  However, going forward, there is an extra charge for access to this portion of the park.

If you are purchasing your tickets in advance, it will cost about an additional $8 to add access to the water park.  If you purchase Story Land tickets and decide to add on Moo Lagoon once you get to the park, it will cost you an extra $10 per ticket.

While this is kind of a shock for many Story Land guests, it is not uncommon.  Most of the New England amusement parks that have water parks charge an additional fee for the water park (Funtown, for example).

And the additional cost is really quite reasonable.
