Take a Look at the $90 Million Superyacht That Recently Visited Coastal Maine

Even though Maine, particularly Coastal Maine, has always been a tourist destination for the wealthy, it feels like we are seeing more and more of the ultra-wealthy visiting our coastal town in recent years.

The trend, which started in 2020, has continued post-pandemic.

At least a handful of "superyachts" visit Portland, Bar Harbor, Camden, and other posh Maine towns each summer.  In many cases, these fancy vessels have been chartered by wealthy business people.  In other cases, they are the floating vacation homes of celebrities.  Country singer Kenny Chesney, for example, loves cruising along the coast of New England and has been spotted in Maine numerous times.

It looks like Maine has been visited by another of these superyachts.

The Superyacht Sixth Sense

According to an article in the Bangor Daily News, the $90 million, 242-foot-long, superyacht Sixth Sense was recently spotted in Bar Harbor.

The vessel is owned by Mickey Arison, the chairman of Carnival Cruise Lines.  He is reportedly worth over $9 billion.

It is not the first time the vessel has been spotted cruising the coast of Maine.  Before heading to Bar Harbor, the superyacht spent several days anchored off the coast of Portland.  And, back in 2023, the superyacht was spotted off the coast by Kennebunkport.

About the Sixth Sense

According to the Superyachts of the Caribbean Youtube channe;, the yacht is 242-feet in length and was built by Amels in the Netherlands and delivered in 2019 as part of the Amels 242 Limited Edition series. It features exterior styling by Tim Heywood, an interior by Andrew Winch, and can accommodate up to 12 guests with a crew of 18. Powered by twin Caterpillar engines, it cruises at 15 knots and has a range of more than 5,000 nautical miles. The yacht is privately owned, is not available for charter, and its interior has never been publicly shown.
