Even though we have hundreds of amazing restaurants here in Maine, many only last a few years.  Sometimes, they only last a few months!

Then, there are the eateries that stick around for decades.  They become an integral part of our communities and of the vacation experiences of thousands of return visitors.

Without a doubt, one of those iconic restaurants in the Taste of Maine restaurant in Woolwich, Maine.

The Sale of the Taste of Maine Restaurant

First opening in the 1970s, the seasonal restaurant is celebrating its 48th season in 2026.  The restaurant is known for its baked stuffed lobster, lobster seafood pie, haddock fromage, and (of course) its massive lobster rolls.

Now, after being on the market for about four years, new owners are ready to take possession of the business.

An article on the WGME website explains that the new owners will take over in either August or September.

A Facebook post explains, in part:

This is a very emotional time for me and my family. The Taste of Maine has been our life for nearly five decades. The memories, friendships, laughter, and support you have given us over the years mean more than words could ever express. We ask that you continue to support the new owners the same way you supported us. We truly want them to succeed and continue the legacy of this special place,

The current owners are suggesting people use their gift cards before the changeover, but they say that the customers can expect the same menu and the same crew.
