The China Lake Fishing Derby Is Back For The Third Year In A Row
It's almost time for the Third Annual China Lake Ice Fishing Derby put on by the China Four Seasons Club and the China Village Volunteer Fire Department. This year's derby is set for Sunday, February 20th.
Tickets are $5 each or 3 for $10 and can be purchased at several locations including, Tobey's Grocery, Maritime Farms, Lake View Lumber, Greg's, and Harvest Time Bait.
Tickets for the fishing derby will also be used in raffle giveaways, and the best part is you don't need to be present or fishing. Raffles include gift cards from local businesses and even a rafting trip to the Magic Falls Rafting Company.
The first 75 kids to check-in at the firehouse the morning of the derby will each receive a Kid's Bucket, aka bait bucket, full of fun information and items. The Kids Buckets are courtesy of the Maine Audubon Society.
Do you have any old lead tackle laying around? If so, the Maine Audubon has a goal of collecting 100 lbs of lead tackle and is requesting you bring these items to the fire station the day of the derby.
The Weigh-in Station will be located at the China Village Fire Department, Causeway Road in China. All entries from the fishing derby MUST be in the Fire Department Building by 4:00 PM to count.
