For those trying to stay active, winters in Maine can be tough.

Unless you are really into a snow-related sport, it can be not easy to find a fun way to get your exercise.

The Indoor Insanity 5K could be just the event you are looking for!

This year's event, which will be held on Sunday, January 26th, will be held at Colby College's Harold Alfond Athletics & Recreation Center.

Registration will begin at 7 a.m. and the first heat will be at 8 a.m.

The event is a fundraiser to fight lung cancer in Maine.  Specifically, as radon is one of the major causes of lung cancer in Maine, the money raised will be used to fix radon problems in the homes of low-income Maine families.

The event website says, in part:

The Maine Indoor Air Quality Council works with established non-profit organizations here in Maine to identify these households, as well as facilitates the work via registered Maine radon mitigators to install the systems. With your help, we hope to both find and fix 1-5 homes in 2025.

The website explains that one-third of the homes in Maine and two-thirds of the homes in Cumberland County have higher than EPA-recommended levels.
