The Most Expensive House On Coastal Maine Is Still For Sale

Even though the Maine real estate market has cooled some from the red hot buying frenzy of 2020 and 2021, people are still buying homes at a rapid pace.  Houses of all sizes and types are often selling just a few days after they hit the market.

However, this is not always the case.  It seems like the more expensive homes and mansions are selling at a much slower pace.

When you think about it, it really DOES make sense.  There is a huge difference between spending a few hundred thousand dollars on a nice home for growing family, and spending MILLIONS on an oceanfront mansion.

It is still kind of surprising that some of these homes are still on the market, though.  For example, the most expensive home for sale in Maine has been on the market for nearly a year.

It's still for sale even though the price has been dropped by FIVE MILLION DOLLARS!

Wanakiwin

Situated on an outcrop of rocks that overlook the Atlantic Ocean is a nearly 11,000 square foot mansion known as Wanakiwin.

Built in 1991, this home was built for entertaining guests and giving them a place to relax.  The house has 10 bedrooms and 9 1/2 bathrooms.  The home has a well equipped kitchen and several dining spaces, including a semi-outside dining area.

A place like this is not cheap.  As of March 2023, the list price $19,500,000.  Keep in mind, the price has been reduced quite a bit.  According to an August 2022 article, it was $25,000,000!
