Today’s R2S Local Food Bank Receives $20,000 Grant
It's a feel good story that we can all cheer for, the Good Shepherd Food Bank received a $20,000 grant from the Joy in Childhood Foundation. 1 in 5 children in Maine is food insecure meaning they do not get the nutrition they need.
The Good Shepherd created the backpack program which provides hungry children with nutritious and easy-to-prepare food when other resources are not available.
With this money, they were able to produce 1,000 bags for the backpack program on Thursday.
