Belfast, Maine is a quaint coastal community on Maines Mid-Coast. It is a haven for artists and very popular in the summer being right at the mouth of the Passagassawakeag River where it meets Belfast Bay. Belfast boasts a great downtown which is very dog friendly and a great place to walk and check out store unique storefronts and some hidden gems when it comes to restaurants. Here's a few of my favorites.

Marshall Wharf Brewing Company

If beer in something you enjoy, no stop is complete without stopping at the Marshall Wharf Brewing Company. Great beers, a friendly staff, amazing views of the harbor, and you can bring your dog. The food is standard pub fare but the almost endless selection of craft brews makes this a must stop.
Nautilus Seafood & Grill

My go-to for seafood in Belfast is Nautilus Seafood & Grill. Aside from Seafood, they also have steaks and kicked-up comfort food. Opened year-round on the Belfast Harbor waterfront the Nautilus really has something for everyone. Spacious indoor dining, casual atmosphere, and seasonal outdoor dining on our patio.
Laan-Xang Cafe

I stumbled on Laan Xanf Cafe by accident in the summer walking by. The exotic aromas coming from their kitchen hypnotize you in to finding out more about this hidden gem. They are open year round and feature a menu of traditional Laotian & Thai dishes. Fast & delicious make this my favorite for take-out.

No town is complete without a classic, no frills diner. For Belfast, that is Traci's Diner. If you are in-town during breakfast hours, this is a must stop. Great menu, unassuming diner atmosphere, and the service is excellent! At Traci's you feel like you stepped back to a simpler time. My favorite are their Benedicts with home fries, and keep the coffee coming!

Since the Spring of 2010, Delvino's Grill and Pasta House offers a great dining experience. The interior brick walls delivers a classic vibe with a modern twist on Italian fare. I fell in love with the ribeye topped with truffle butter. A perfect place to bring someone special and share a bottle of red.

The Cafe at the Belfast CO-OP has pulled me in many times of over the past few years. Not only is the food about as local & fresh as you can get. The entire atmosphere at the CO-OP just feels vibrant and uplifting. Not only can you enjoy a healthy meal, you can grab some amazing groceries at the same time. This place is truly a win-win.

There is just something about old school pizza that calls out to my heart. Alexia's Pizza is a classic old school pizza joint. I love the greek style pizza reminiscent of the many "House of Pizzas" around New England and this is just that. No fills but they will keep you coming back again and again. I love this place!

If you are wondering, is there really a "Bell" the cat, the answer is yes, there is. A little outside of downtown, Bell The Cat is a great spot for breakfast or lunch. Their selection of salads and sandwiches are simply amazing, and made with pride. The prices are great considering the portion sizes and quality of the ingredients. Located in the former Pizza Hut building, they still use the drive-thru window which makes it even more perfect when you are on the go. Check it out.
