Summer is getting closer and one of our favorite summer treats ice cream.

One side effect of eating ice cream is the ice cream headache, also known as 'brain freeze.' The brain freeze headache is officially listed as it's own type of headache and has the scientific name: sphenopalatine ganglioneuralgia. (trying to pronounce that gives me a headache)

The reason for an ice cream headache or brain freeze comes when there is a sudden change in temperature to the nerves in your mouth which sends a message to your brain. The arteries and blood vessels react to cause a sudden throbbing in your head.
