Two People Injured In Tuesday Morning Central Maine Crash
According to an article on the WMTW website, two drivers were seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash on Route 196 in Lisbon early Tuesday morning.
Officials say the Lisbon Communications Center received a transferred 911 call just before 7 AM reporting a crash on Lisbon Street near the intersection of Summer Street. Police, fire crews, and EMS quickly responded to reports of deployed airbags, multiple injuries, and one person trapped.
When first responders arrived, they found a heavily damaged white 2019 Volvo SUV in the roadway, with significant impact to the front and driver’s side. A white 2015 Ford F-150 pickup truck involved in the crash had come to rest off the road. Witnesses had already stopped to assist both drivers before emergency crews arrived.
The SUV’s driver, a 53-year-old woman, was trapped and had to be extricated by firefighters. She was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with serious injuries. The truck’s driver, a 30-year-old man, was transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland, also with serious injuries.
Police say the SUV pulled onto Route 196 from Summer Street into the path of the westbound truck. The crash caused significant delays during the morning commute and remains under investigation.
