Popular Augusta Restaurant Moving Into Former John Sullivan’s Pub Location

One of the great things about downtown Augusta is the sense of community that you feel as you wander between the Water Street businesses.

Water Street, and surrounding area, are already home to many amazing businesses.  A visitor to Augusta's downtown will find Cushnoc, State Lunch, Merkaba Sol, Lisa's Legit Burritos, Wrapped Up, Riverfront BBQ, and The Capital Bakery, to name just a few.

The downtown Augusta business community will soon be expanding again.

Two Maine Guys' New Augusta Location

In February, we got word that John Sullivan's Pub would be closing in March.  After running the business for nearly a decade, they had decided it was time to make a change.

When the announcement was made the owners said that the building was being sold to another local business and that the new owners would be revealed at an appropriate time.

While many had heard rumors about the business that would be moving into the Bridge Street building, it was not officially announced until this week.

A post on the Two Maine Guys Facebook page says, in part:

Today we closed on our first Building!

We are now the owners of the former John Sullivan’s Pub or the Black & Tan at 18 Bridge Street in Augusta.

We have been renting Buildings and parking lots since 2016 when we first started our food truck and Restaurant in Richmond and Augusta.

We have been looking to purchase a building in Augusta for a year or two Now.

This is great news for those of us who like to enjoy the tasty food from Two Maine Guys when it first comes out of the kitchen.  They will have a lot more seating at this new location.

While they will have a full bar, the intention is to make it more of a family restaurant than a bar.

This new location is about 2 1/2 times the size of their current spot.

They hope to be able to open in the new location in July of 2025.
