Federal Government Issues Warning For Travelers in Maine, New Hampshire, & Massachusetts
Those of us who watch the news know that there is always some kind of conflict going on somewhere in the world.
However, the incidents of the last few days have been kind of chilling for those of us who live in the United States. We are normally thousands of miles from any conflict. These battles are something we see play out on TV and on social media. Because of the current United States involvement in the Israel-Iran conflict, something feels different.
Since the October 2023 attack on Israel, we have seen the situation in the Middle East become increasingly volatile.
While the situation between Israel and Iran has been tense for decades, things really started to heat up after the Iranian consulate annex building adjacent to the Iranian embassy in Damascus, Syria, was struck by an Israeli airstrike on April 1st, 2024.
Following the incident in Damascus, the countries traded missile fire on several occasions.
On June 13th, 2025, Israel attacked several military and nuclear targets in Iran. Less than a week later, on June 19th, Iran launched and attack against an Israeli hospital.
A few days after the hospital incident, President Trump ordered the United States military to strike several key military targets in Iran.
The United States Involvement in the Israel-Iran War
According to an article on the CNN website, the United States struck several nuclear infrastructure targets in Iran on Saturday evening. Using weapons launched from nearby submarines and B-2 bombers, US forces hit targets in Fordow, Natanza, and Isfahan.
Following the strikes, the Israeli government praised President Trump for being so bold.
The Iranian government has vowed to continue its nuclear research.
The United States State Department Travel Warning
The U..S. State Department has issued a new travel warning to American citizens traveling abroad.
The warning reads, in part:
The conflict between Israel and Iran has resulted in disruptions to travel and periodic closure of airspace across the Middle East. There is the potential for demonstrations against U.S. citizens and interests abroad. The Department of State advises U.S. citizens worldwide to exercise increased caution.
While there is a threat from Iran's attacks against enemies, there is also a concern about terrorist organizations and lone entities attacking areas frequented by travelers from the West. There is also a concern that, in some cases, these people may directly target Americans.
Regardless of where you are traveling this summer, please be safe.
