Several flights, including at least one commercial flight, were diverted away from a major Maine airport over the weekend.

According to a story published by WABI, multiple flights were delayed and/or diverted on Saturday from Maine's Bangor International Airport. The diversions came after an unidentified person called in and made threats against the airport.

Following the threats, Bangor Police responded to the area and executed an extensive search of the airport, its runways and even some surrounding properties. The search didn't uncover anything malicious and the airport was cleared to reopen to normal operations.

WABI went on to say that the Bangor Police Department is now investigating the source of the threats in hopes of identifying who is responsible for them.

This is a developing story and we will keep it updated as more information becomes available to us.
