Here’s How Sparky Will Soon Help Walmart Shoppers in Maine, New Hampshire, & Massachusetts

I have always treated shopping like an adventure.

Yes, I normally have an idea of what I want/need before I go to a store, but after I get what I came for I often spend at least a few extra minutes looking to see if there is something else I need or want.

That’s always been my approach to shopping, but I know a lot of other people who treat shopping like a task.  These people often hate shopping and have the goal is to get what they need as quickly as they possibly can.

If that’s your attitude about shopping, there is probably nothing more painful to you than not being able to find what you need.

Walmart has the solution and his name is Sparky.

What is Walmart’s Sparky?

According to an article on the MSN website, retail giant Walmart has teamed up with some of the brightest minds in artificial intelligence to create Sparky, a genAI feature inside the Walmart app.

The idea is that Sparky will help customers find the products they need more quickly.  Because of how it was coded, it reportedly understands normal speech.  That means that you don’t need to ask a very specific question in order to find what you are looking for.

For example, if you do your grocery shopping at Walmart, you can just search for “hot breakfast cereal” to bring up a selection of oatmeal varieties.  Or, if you can’t seem to remember what that Fortnite in-game money is called (VBucks) , you can just search “video game money”

Sparky will reportedly also act as a search engine for current information.  For example, you can ask it what the weather will be like for tomorrow's Maine Savings Amphitheater concert.  After it gives you the weather forecast it will also recommend what you should wear to the show.

When Will Walmart Launch Sparky?

Sparky is currently available on the Walmart app.

To launch Sparky just tap the icon at the bottom center of the app’s main screen.

There is a good chance that we will Sparky become more developed over time.
