Every Walmart & Target in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, & New York Will Be Closed For Thanksgiving

Back in the day, when our parents were kids, people planned their weeks with the idea that many places would not be open on the weekend in mind.

These days, we have gotten used to living in an age of convenience.  Even in states where the 'blue laws' still exist, most retailers are open on Sundays.  That means you can buy that new TV from Walmart, get that home theater system from Best Buy, or purchase a baseball bat from Dick's Sporting Goods.

In a somewhat surprising break from this trend, in just a few weeks, several major nationwide retailers will be closed for at least 24 hours.

According to an article on the 8 News Now website, Walmart, Target, Costco, and discount grocer Aldi all plan to be closed for Thanksgiving.

While the concept is somewhat new to some retailers, Walmart has been closing on Thanksgiving since 2020.  In 2020, representatives for the massive retailer told USA Today, that given all that had happened that year, they wanted to give their employees the opportunity to spend the holiday with their families.

For our friends in Maine, the idea that these major retailers will be closed on Thanksgiving is not a shocker.  Maine is one of the few states that still have blue laws.  These laws vary from state to state but, in Maine, prevent larger businesses from opening on major holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas.

While they have yet to announce specific hours, you can expect all of these retailers to re-open early on Black Friday.
