There’s One Major Change at Maine’s 2024 Windsor Fair
One of the best things about summer in Maine is our numerous agricultural fairs.
Fair season in Maine kicks off in June, and runs through early October.
If you talk to your friends and family, you'll find that most of them will attend at least a few fairs this season.
They'll probably attend the fair closest to them, but also make the trip to one of the bigger fairs elsewhere in the state. Even though fair season lasts about four months, it still feels way too short. You need to savor every bit of fair season.
The Windsor Fair
Even though it is the second-largest fair in the state, many Central Mainers still consider the Windsor Fair the king of Maine fairs.
Each summer, the fairgrounds (which cover over 250 acres) are filled with rides, food, exhibits, livestock, and vendors. The fair is so large that most people will need more than one day to see and do everything.
Additionally, something is going on each night. The fair always has several demolition derbies, stunt shows, and live music from some of the country's best bands.
The fair typically has an attendance of over 150,000 people.
The big change to the 2024 Windsor Fair
Normally, the fair runs for nine days. It starts on the Sunday before the week leading up to Labor Day, and ends on Labor Day Monday.
This year, however, we are getting an extra day to enjoy the fair!
Normally, the fair would start on Sunday, August 25. However, this year, it has been announced that the fair will begin on Saturday, August 24.
The post says, in part:
Save the date! We have exciting news to share: We will open a day early, 9am on Sat. Aug. 24th this year and run through 6pm on Labor Day, Sep 2nd.
