According to WMTW, the woman was fine $14,000 after she reportedly repeatedly refused to wear a mask during the flight.

The incident took place back on February 25th of 2021.

A statement from the Federal Aviation Administration explained that the flight was a Delta Connection operated by Endeavor Airlines from New York City to the Portland International Jetport.

According to flight attendants, they had repeatedly warned the woman that she needed properly wear her mask for the duration of the flight.

Currently, federal law requires masks be worn in all forms of public transport including trains, buses, and airliners.

Since the first of the year, there have been about 3,100 reports of passengers causing disruptions because they refused to wear a mask.  The government has proposed over $560,000 in fines over these three thousand violations.

Clearly, it is important to remember that, no matter how you feel about the rules, the flight crew are just trying their best to stay on the correct side of the law.  They are not the ones who made the rules.
