According to WLBZ, the world's largest plane landed at Bangor International Airport on Friday. The Antonov An-225 took off from Kiev, Ukraine and flew over Poland, Denmark, Scotland, and the Atlantic Ocean before landing in Bangor.

According to Wikipedia, the plan was designed in the 1980s and first flew on December 21st, 1988.  The plane is named Mriya, which means inspiration or dream.  It was unveiled at the 1989 Paris Air Show.

Originally designed for the Soviet military and space program, it went into commercial service in 2001.  Over it's 30+ year history, it has set well over 200 records.

There's been no announcement about what the plane is carrying or its final destination.
