Augusta Warming Center Open For The Winter Season
You may have noticed, it has been really cold the last few days. So, the timing of the Augusta Community Warming Center now being open, is perfect. The center in downtown Augusta is open for individuals and families daily 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Yes, they are open seven days a week, so people can get out of the cold or enjoy some company during the winter season or both!
The Augusta Community Warming Center is primarily funded by the United Way of Kennebec Valley. However, other organizations, such as churches, businesses and the City of Augusta give their support in a variety of ways.
The Augusta Community Warming Center is in downtown, on Front Street along the Kennebec River. The center will stay open through March. Like I said, they are open seven days a week. For many, out of those six days they may visit the Bread of Life Ministries Soup Kitchen further down Water Street. On Sundays, the center provides meals from organizations, churches and companies.
Got to love a community that comes together for a project like this.
