With the closing of the Howard Johnson Restaurant in Lake Placid, New York, after nearly 60 years, it will leave only two HoJo’s still in operation. One of those restaurants is in Bangor, Maine, the other in Lake George, which just reopened after being closed for three years.

The Howard Johnson Bangor Hotel and Restaurant is near the Alfond Arena near the intersections of I-95 and I-295 on Odlin Rd.

In the 1960’s and 1970’s, Howard Johnson was the largest restaurant chain in the United States. The distinctive ‘orange roof’ gave the hotels and restaurants their one-of-a-kind look. The hotel chain in now owned by Wyndham Worldwide but there are only two restaurants left.
