Country News: Rhett and Ballerini to Host CMA Fest 2017

Thomas Rhett and Kelsea Ballerini will co-host CMA Fest 2017, a three hour T.V. special featuring performances and highlights from the upcoming 2017 CMA Music Festival. Rhett will be hosting for the second year and Ballerini is on board for the first time. According to The Boot, the CMA Fest 2017 will air on ABC sometime this summer while the 2017 CMA Music Festival is scheduled for June 8-11.

Country News: Shania Twain Talks About Touring Again

Shania Twain has been working on a new album and it is expected to be out this fall (2017). Now there’s word she may go on tour again. She had a farewell ‘Rock This Country Tour’ in 2015 and said that would be her last our but now she is reconsidering. The Boot says she feels her ‘final tour’ ended too soon but now that her son is getting older and doesn’t require as much of her time, she’ll likely hit the road again.

Willie Nelson is alive and well and planning on his 44hth annual Fourth of July Picnic. The four decade tradition will welcome dozens of artists to perform in celebration of America’s birthday. Some artists joining Nelson this year will be Kacey Musgraves, Jamey Johnson, Asleep at the Wheel, Sheryl Crow, David Alan Coe and many more. According to tasteofcountry.com the event will be held at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.

Country News: Rascal Flatts Opening an L.A. Restaurant

Rascal Flatts will open a restaurant and bar in Los Angeles later this year. Eater Los Angeles says construction is already underway and will be located on the third floor of a building on a busy corner in L.A. The restaurant and bar will serve ‘down home eats,’ beer, cocktails and good music. Rascal Flatts had announced in 2012 they would open another location in Arizona but that has not opened yet.

Country legend Glen Campbell will have a final album coming out this summer. Campbell has entered the advanced stages of Alzheimer’s disease but June 9 will be the release of ‘Adios’, the country stars last album. People says that Adios was recorded soon after Campbell’s diagnosis’s with Alzheimer’s. Fiddle player and vocalist for Alabama, Jeff Cook, has Parkinson’s disease. Cook found out four years ago but just recently shared the news. Alabama members Randy Owen and Teddy Gentry were by his side when he read a prepared statement saying he’ll step back from his duties with the band on April 29. According to The Boot, his loss of balance and coordination, as well as tremors makes it too frustrating to continue to play.

Country News: Kenny Chesney Adds a Couple More Concerts

 

Kenny Chesney will do a couple of more concerts this year other than the two at Gillette Stadium. He has announced four more shows in 2017. Chesney has added concerts at Tuscaloosa Amphitheater in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on Aug. 4; Orange Beach, Alabama’s Wharf Amphitheatre on Aug. 5; and at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut, on Aug. 10 and 11. His two shows at Gillette will be August 25 and 26. According to The Boot, Chesney decided to scale down this year but couldn’t no play a little bit.

Country News: Class of 2017 Country Music Hall of Fame Inductees

The 2017 class of inductees to the Country Music Hall of Fame were announced by host Vince Gill on Wednesday. The three new members of the Hall are: Alan Jackson, songwriter Don Schlitz and the great Jerry Reed. The Boot said past inductees also attended the ceremony including Brenda Lee, Alabama and the Oak Ridge Boys.
