Mike Michaud is Gay: Today’s Big Story Should Be Such a Non-Issue

So today, all over the news is the news that gubernatorial candidate Mike Michaud made the announcement he is gay. Excuse me while I yawn. This should be the biggest non-issue around. But from what I was reading Michaud, who is a six-term congressman for the state of Maine, felt he needed to address his sexuality to counter "whisper campaigns, insinuations and push-polls" that raised questions about his personal life. So he did, with an op-ed piece that was released today.

As we get ready to start our 14th annual Tanksgiving food drive there are some alarming facts about hunger in Maine. Ten years ago 9 percent of the state’s population, about 53,000, didn’t have enough food to put on their table. That number has jumped to 15 percent today, or 132,000 Mainer’s.

Randy’s College Football Wrap Up, Week 10

It is week 10 in College Football and #1 Alabama had the week off. On October 5th the Michigan Wolverines beat Minnesota to win the oldest division rival trophy, ‘The Little Brown Jug’, but this Saturday they lost to Michigan State and the Spartans won the second oldest division rival trophy ‘The Paul Bunyan Trophy’. State won 29-6.

Alabama at #1 had a slow start to the year but lately they have been playing like a number one team. They had no trouble with Tennessee in a 45-10 win. Both offensively and defensively the Crimson Tide looks good. Florida State jumped to Number 2 after last week’s impressive win on the road against Clemson and they look like a number two beating North Carolina State 40-17.
