Now that 2013 is coming to close a lot of lists are coming out for various things. A list for lies of the year are also making the rounds and most, if not all, can agree on the biggest lie of the year. Not surprisingly it’s a political lie.

Gas prices are something we all keep an eye on: are they going up, are they going down? The last I saw was $3.44 a gallon with the average in Maine at $3.47. Democratic Congressman Earl Blumenaurer is pushing to double the gas tax to .33 cent a gallon. There is currently an 18.5 cent federal gas tax on every gallon of gas we buy and the Representative from Oregon says it’s time to raise it. Read M

We were all upset during the government shutdown that the National Parks were closed and it was right to be upset. But a new report from Oklahoma Senator Tom Coburn on National Parks wasting money is even more upsetting.  Many parks are in need of repair with a maintenance backlog of $2 billion.

The United States current debt is $16 trillion dollars, an amount no person on this planet has ever and will never amass as personal wealth. In layman’s terms, ‘that’s whole lotta money’. I don't think anyone does. It is so frustrating!!! How does it work? The gas price in Fairfield is $3.58 while in Norway it is $3.34. But just a few miles away in Auburn it is $3.59.

A woman in Western Pennsylvania had her $280,000 home sold at auction for $116,000 because she had $6.30 in unpaid interest.  A lower court judge made the ruling, but now, that ruling has been overturned by Judge Mary Hannah Leavitt.
