It has been thought that interaction with humans contributed to chimpanzees have a mean streak in them. A new study refutes that claim saying chimps are natural born killers and have a mean streak born in them.

A study done by Michael Wilson of the University of Minnesota, an evolutionary anthropologist, shows nearly 150 chimpanzees are known or suspected to have died at the hands of fellow chimps. The study concludes chimps come by their meanness naturally and is not connected to outside forces such as humans. Chimps get ahead in their clan by taking out the one in charge, so chimp on chip violence is not uncommon.
