On Sunday at The Silver Spur in Mechanic Falls, I was proud to be on hand to accept the awards presented to our station. The venue was packed with local musicians and country music enthusiasts of all ages.

Between each award we were treated to a musical number, either by the winner of the previous award or other very talented musicians. What a great afternoon!

DECMA has been around a long time and they try to keep traditional country music alive in Maine. But they're not only into traditional. They also promote modern country, too! Maine has so much talent and being a part of DECMA helps local musicians network with other musicians. You would be surprised at how many people have played music with each other.

I accepted the Bill Clements Memorial Award first. It is an honor to play country music on B98.5 and help local musicians and bands get their names out in the community. We love to hear from local artists!

Then Jackie Harmon, the president of DECMA, asked me to sing. THAT was a surprise! Luckily, the musicians knew 'Walkin' After Midnight' by Patsy Cline...and me, too! I have never stepped into a situation where I have sung a song I have never done before. I've always admired Patsy but never sang that song. What an incredible job those musicians did!

I then accepted the 'Station of the Year' award and I brought Anderson up to help me carry the big trophy. We are so proud to do our jobs everyday and make people happy by making them laugh and playing their favorite artists! We will continue to do our best!
