The average gasoline prices in Maine were down a little over 4 cents per gallon this week for a statewide average of $2.11. That's according to GasBuddy.com and their daily survey of 1,228 gas outlets in the state.

Nationally, gas price were 2.3 cents per gallon lower for an average of $2.02.

We are $1.37 per gallon lower than one year ago, and GasBuddy.com expects the national average to fall below $2 a gallon this week.

Experts think that the price decline is close to bottoming out and prices will start to rise soon. Mostly due to refineries switching to cleaner-burning, summer gas blends.

The lowest reported gas price in Maine was $1.92 a gallon at a gas station in Pittsfield.
