A Maine woman who jumped off the Interstate 95 bridge into the Piscataqua River Thursday morning was pulled from the water by rescuers and taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The 38-year-old woman, who authorities say is from Kittery, was rescued between the I-95 and Sarah Mildred Long bridges. Marine Patrol and the United States Coast Guard transported her to Prescott Park. EMS crews resuscitated her there, and the woman was taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

New Hampshire Marine Patrol is heading up the investigation into Thursday’s incident.
