Not Even A Full Week Of School & It’s Already Picture Time

My biggest pet peeve of the kids going back to school...Picture Day!!  My kids haven't even been in school for a full week and I'm already getting notices that picture day is coming!  The notices aren't even pieces of paper sent home in their folders.  No, these are emails.  They do emails now!!  Not just once...but 6 times.  So, my phone dings as though I'm getting an test message...I look...PICTURE DAY!!  

I hate picture day.  The only thing half way decent about the picture taken is the kid in the picture...but other than that...the pictures are terrible!  Terrible and Expensive!!  I refuse to fall into the trap of having to purchase school pictures.  And, what's with doing them twice a year??  I haven't forgotten what my kids look like.  They are up my rear 24/7...I've got their faces pretty much memorized by now.  Believe me...I won't forget it either.

How about when they take your child's picture...print up a packet and send it home...and then ask you to send in money?  They try to pull you in with GUILT.  How do you look at this cute picture of your kid and tell your child that we aren't buying them?  If you're going to send something home in my kids backpack without my permission...I can't guarantee it's going back and I am not responsible for the item...just sayin'.

Frankly, it's cheaper to go with a local photographer to do individual pictures...have them give you the rights to the images...and go to Walmart and print them off yourself.  That's what we do every year.  Plus, you get to capture who they really are as an individual that year.
