Each year CareerBuilders.com has a list the most outrageous excuses for being late for work. It's not always traffic, a missed alarm or bad weather that makes people late. 25 per cent of workers admit to being late at least once a month, 13 per cent say being late is a weekly occurrence.

Here are some of the more ‘strange’ reasons for being late in 2015:

A Vaseline truck overturned on the highway and cars were slipping left and right.

All of my clothes were stolen.

A black bear entered my carport and decided to take a nap on the hood of my car.

My hair caught on fire from my blow dryer.

There was fresh powder on the hill. I had to go skiing.

I was detained by Homeland Security.

There was a store grand opening and I wanted to get the opening day sales.

Excuses, excuses, excuses.
