America's Got Talent

'America's Got Talent' finals featured the remaining six contestants, four are singers, and they each got to perform twice during the finals last night. Former country artist Emily West, who lost her record deal, gave two stunning vocal performances.

Emily West was once an up-and-coming country artist. She had a record deal with Capitol Records and an album in 2007. Emily had two songs that cracked the top 40 country chart. 'Rock In My Shoes' in 2008 and 'Blue Sky' with Keith Urban in 2010. She then lost her record deal and has rekindled her career as a top 12 finalist this season on 'America's Got Talent'.

I was watching 'America's Got Talent' and a singer came out on stage, it was Emily West, now I know that name, then it came to me. Emily has a brief recording career in Nashville. She moved to Nashville from Iowa in 2000 and had a record deal with Capitol Nashville.

'America's Got Talent' will wrap up season eight tonight with the crowning of their latest winner, who will win one million dollars and a year-long headlining show in Las Vegas. Also, tonight on the results show, country music will be represented with performances by Dierks Bentley and Luke Bryan. Let's take a look back at the top six.

'America's Got Talent' were down to its top 18 acts. That was being narrowed to its top 12 after last nights show. One of those acts trying to make the top 12 includes American Military Spouses Choir, with Lewiston, Maine native Abi Hodgson.

This season of 'America's Got Talent' has featured many acts with a Maine connection. Last night on 'America's Got Talent', Houlton native, Sam Johnson, performed his high risk act outside of Radio City Music Hall.

Edward Little High School graduate Colin Britt, the choral conductor of 3 Penny Orchestra and Choir, performed on 'America's Got Talent' last night as they try to win a spot in the semi-finals.

Season eight of America's Got Talent is filling spots into the semifinals and one of the acts with Maine connections have made into the semifinals. Abi Hodgson, a Lewiston native, is one of 37 members of the American Military Spouses Choir, one of 16 acts that are still in the running for the $1 million top prize.

Country singer Jimmy Rose had one of those 'moments' during 'America's Got Talent' last night. The Kentucky native has the whole package. First of all he is very likeable, he's a small town guy who served in the United States Marine Corps in Iraq. He worked as a coal miner and is a family man. Oh, did I mention, he can sing?

By now, we all know the reality show drill: a wannabe who doesn't look like he or she can sing a lick comes out and blows everyone out of the water. Travis Pratt became the latest to pull that one off, but he added a unique twist.

One if my favorite summer guilty pleasures is back, America's Got Talent! There are some changes this year, two new judges, Heidi Klum and Mel B., the live shows will be at Radio City Music Hall this season. We also have some Maine natives to cheer for!

Reality judging competitions these days endure quite a bit of turnover in their judgeships, like the way the coming season of 'American Idol' will introduce Keith Urban, Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj to replace the departing Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler.
