A major Interstate 95 interchange bridge in Augusta will be shut down, starting today, for about three months. The Department of Transportation says the bridge leading from the Exit 113 ramp from the southbound lanes of I-95 to Route 3 eastbound will close starting today.
Last year the Augusta City Council voted to close the Bicentennial Nature Park and save about $40,000. That sparked area residents to make sure that didn't happen this year. The Friends of Bicentennial Nature Park is a citizens' group that is working to help reopen the city-owned park.
A $13 million dollar project that is underway will close the northbound on-ramp of I-95 Exit 113 in Augusta starting this Monday. The closure of the on-ramp is scheduled to last for approximately 30 days as work crews reconstruct the Exit 113 northbound on-ramp.
About 1,000 Time Warner Cable customers in Augusta and Hallowell lost phone and internet service for a large part of the workday on Friday. Service went out around 6 a.m. and was restored around 3 p.m. So what happened?
Augusta native and philanthropist Elsie Viles passed away this weekend. She was 98. I never met Mrs. Viles, but I was thinking about her this weekend while I was at the Viles Arboretum in Augusta. I did not know at that time of her passing.
Viles Arboretum in Augusta is one of the most beautiful places on any day in any season. If you have not taken a nice afternoon to explore the beautiful grounds and planting and collection, you are missing something special. But this winter they have been offering dog sled rides on Sundays. I can tell you, it is "paw-some"!

Legislative leaders have said OK to Maine Public Broadcasting Network and expanding State House coverage. It should be kind of like a local version of C-SPAN. The idea was approved by the House and Senate leaders. The free, over-the-air MPBN State House TV channel is devoted exclusively to coverage of the Legislature and government affairs.
