The First IQ Test for Dogs

British scientists have come with what is believed to be the first IQ test for dogs. They have devised a series of obstacles to find the intelligence in border collies.

They found dogs have measurable IQs. Researchers hope these tests will help our understanding of the link between health and IQs in humans. Since dogs aren’t influenced by drinking, smoking or drugs they offer a unique test ground for scientists.

Research has suggested that dog’s intelligence is structured similar to humans so it may help understand a link between intelligence and better health.

Dogs, like humans, are one of the few creatures that reproduce many of the key features of dementia, so this could help understand the disorder in humans.

Unlike dogs kept as pets, the canines used in the study were working border collies more accustomed to farmyard settings, and not to games and food treats.

There were no significant differences between male and female dogs' test scores.
