'Tis the season, one of the area's biggest holiday events is set for this Friday in downtown Waterville, the Parade of Lights. It all starts at 6 p.m. at Head of Falls, thousands of people fill the downtown every year for the Parade of Lights.

It's the 44th annual holiday parade that will launch the holiday season in Waterville.

The parade route starts at the Head of Falls and will go west on Union Street, then south on College Avenue, goes down Main Street and reverses direction after the former Levine's store and returns to Head of Falls via Front Street.

After the parade, Santa will light the large tree in Castonguay Square that will stay lit all winter long.

Main Street will be closed after 4p.m. on Friday and motorists are encouraged to park on The Concourse or at Head of Falls.
