The U.S. Postal Service is looking for new trucks. The delivery trucks they have in their fleet are getting old and maintaining them is become too costly.

They need a little more room in their trucks too because of extra cargo from online shoppers. They have put the word out will be looking for bids for the new trucks. They need about 180,000 of them but they do have specific requirements.

The current trucks are on a Chevy chassis and date to 1996. The new trucks need to  have a cost between $25,000 and $35,000 apiece, adding up to $4.5 to $6.3 billion. The trucks have to be right-hand-drive, get better gas mileage than the current trucks (16mpg), and have updated safety equipment, automatic and an all-wheel drive option.

The Postal Service says they will be ready to buy, by 2018.
