10 Cinco De Mayo Destinations In Central Maine And Beyond

Without a doubt, one of the great party holidays here in the US is Cinco de Mayo.  Clearly, it is less of a party (drinking) holiday than Saint Patrick's Day, but it is still a party day.

Here in the US it has really become a day to celebrate (and learn about) Mexican heritage.

If you are still unsure how you are going to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, we want to help.

That's why we've put together a list of some of the best places to celebrate the holiday.  Keep in mind, these are a mix of Mexican restaurants and places that are planning on throwing Cinco de Mayo parties.

Basically, we wanted to give you some food options and some options of places to go if you want to continue to fun.

What is Cinco de Mayo all about?

According to a post on the History Channel website, the holiday celebrates the Mexican victory over the French in the Battle of Puebla.  That particular battle happened on May 5th, 1862.

The post goes on to say:

 While it is a relatively minor holiday in Mexico, in the United States, Cinco de Mayo has evolved into a commemoration of Mexican culture and heritage, particularly in areas with large Mexican-American populations.
