3rd Annual Camp Out Hunger Day 1 Thru Kristi Marie’s Eyes
When I opened my eyes this morning, hours before the sun woke up, I knew today and this whole week would be one I remember for the rest of my life.
Today kicked off our 3rd Annual Camp Out Hunger food drive, and it's one of those events that makes you look at the world and people in a different, kinder, and more gentle way.
It's no secret that 2020 was a rough year for many people, and 2021 is still affecting the lives of so many. So, it is not a surprise that food insecurity has increased exponentially, and it affects your friends, your neighbors, your co-workers, and maybe even your family.
If you're unfamiliar with Camp Out Hunger, it is exactly as it sounds. We camp out in the Sam's Club parking lot in Augusta. We stay around the clock for 5 days, gathering nonperishable food items and monetary donations for the Salvation Army Capital Region and other area food banks.
Every donation makes a difference; it doesn't matter if it's big or small; it matters. Take a few extra minutes today and look in your cabinets to see what you can find, involve your family and friends, and get your co-workers in on helping too!
Keep in mind that buying power of the Salvation Army makes your money go farther. For every ten dollars donated, they can feed a family of four for a week. Incredible!

A new addition to Camp Out Hunger 2021, we accept pet food donations for Spectrum Generations meals on wheels. We are also accepting health and beauty products, too. Soap, shampoo, deodorant, laundry detergent, toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc.
