Hugh Evans and Alex Turanski, a father and son that volunteer at the Penobscot Fire Department, will be biking across the country to raise money for the fire department.

The 3,500 mile trip from California to Maine will take the pair six weeks, as they try to raise money to buy a new tanker for the fire department.

The Penobscot Fire Department currently owns a standard shift 1978 Mack fire truck that needs to be retired. The fire department has raised $100,000 for a new tanker, but still needs another $150,000.

To make a donation, you can send a check to the Penobscot Fire Department or donate online on their 'Fire Truck Bike Trip' GoFundMe site. You can also follow their trip on a special Facebook page.
