Acadia National Park is celebrating their centennial during the summer of 2016 and it involves more than 100 events in the community and park.

Here are some of the activities planned:

June 25: At Sieur de Monts Nature Center in the park (with park admission) scientists will have a dozen interactive stations to learn about climate and ecosystems.

July 4: The Bar Harbor 4th of July Parade will take place on Maine Street beginning at 10 a.m. The park’s past will come to life as all of the community partners who created the year-long celebration display the art, science, nature and beauty of the park in a unique and festive parade. It will be followed by lobster races in the town park.

July 8: This is the official birthday of Acadia National Park and the Red Cloak Haunted History Tour will hold a walking tour though Bar Harbor. The focus will be on the history of the oldest Eastern national park and how it was created and the history of the area in 1916.
