Here’s Why Maine & New Hampshire Could Soon Get Their Amazon Orders A Lot Quicker

In recent years more people than ever have embraced the benefits of online shopping.

These days, between Amazon, Walmart, and Door Dash, you can basically have anything delivered right to your home.  Within a few days you can get anything from an abacus to ziplock bags delivered right to your door.

Prior to the pandemic, early adopters of Amazon always raved about the overnight and 2-day delivery options.  Sadly, as Amazon business increased during the time that we were all stuck at home, delivery times began to slowly creep up.  By early 2021, it was taking about a week to get some products that had been ordered with 2-day delivery.

Fortunately, it looks like delivery times for people in Maine and New Hampshire may soon get a lot quicker.

An Amazon Distribution Center in Gorham, Maine

We had previously told you that Amazon was reportedly eyeing the purchase of a massive plot of land in the Maine town of Gorham.

The 94 acre plot of land is located at the corner of Main Street and Dollof Road in Gorham.

While Amazon representatives have not yet revealed what they intend to do with the land, it is suspected that it will be a distribution center.

The retail giant recently opened a new distribution center in the Aroostook County town of Caribou.

Now, it appears that we are one step closer to seeing this new Amazon distribution center (if that's what it is) become a reality.  According to WMTW, on Tuesday night, the Gorham town council voted to allow the sale of the land to Amazon for about $4 million.

There is no word on when we could see construction begin.
