Maine DEA Agents Seize 16 Pounds of Meth & Illegal Firearm in Major Bust
A sad fact of life in Maine is the uptick in the number of drug-related crimes in our state.
We're not talking about illegal marijuana grow operations, either. Although, we do have our fair share of those, too. Nope, in this case, we're talking about busts involving cocaine, fentanyl, and meth.
Recently, investigators from the Waterville Police Department made a major drug bust.
According to WGME, a representative for the Waterville Police Department says they’ve seized more than 16 pounds of methamphetamine and an illegal firearm following a month-long drug investigation.
According to police, around 4 PM on December 30, Waterville officers, along with the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, executed several search warrants. That’s when they found the drugs, with a street value estimated at more than $100,000, along with the firearm.
Police arrested 48-year-old Andrew Symonevich of Waterville without incident. He’s now facing charges of aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs, a Class A felony, and illegal possession of a firearm, a Class B charge.
Bail was set at $35,000. His first court appearance is scheduled for February 23.
*NOTE - All suspects are considered innocent until being found guilty in a court of law
Authorities say the investigation is ongoing and we could see more charges brought against Symonevich.
