According to an article in the Kennebec Journal, the city's Dollar General location on Eastern Avenue has been forced to close following multiple code violations.

The newspaper reports that the store was in violation of safety and fire codes including exposed wires and store product blocking access to some isles. Earlier this year, four other Dollar General stores in Maine were forced to close from similar violations.

The KJ explains that the chain could be facing nearly $21 million in fines for violations found during 240 individual inspections nationwide.

The Kennebec Journal says the Eastern Avenue location will reopen once the violations are addressed and corrected.
