According to the Augusta Police Department Facebook page, they are looking for the public's help in locating the owner of this adorable pup.
The post says, in part:
We are looking to reunite our four legged friend with her family. Give us a call if you can know who the owners are.
If you know who she belongs to, you can give the Augusta Police Department a call at 207.626.2370.

According to Wikipedia, the City of Augusta is the capital of the State of Maine. While the Native Americans had lived in the area for hundreds of years, the Augusta area was first explored by the Europeans in the early 1600s. The area was home to the Popham Colony, which was started in 1607.
Settlers returned to the area in the 1750s. In 1771, the town was included as part of Hallowell. It later split and Augusta was incorporated as a town in 1797. It became a city in 1849.
Wanted a centralized location for the capital of the state, Augusta became the capital in 1827. It is the third smallest capital in the country, behind Pierre, South Dakota and Montpelier, Vermont.
For many years, the city of home to several mills. First, there were nearly a dozen sawmills. Later, the town was home to a massive textile mill.
After the city was named the capital of the state, and the mills opened, the city grew quickly. Gas lights were added to the downtown in about 1850, phone service started in 1880, and a general hospital opened in 1898.
