According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety, the Maine State Police are in the process of investigating the death of an infant.

The press release explains that at about 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2024, Biddeford fire and police were dispatched to a residence on Emery Street for an unresponsive one-month-old boy.

The child was initially taken to Southern Maine Hospital in Biddeford.  He was later transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland.

Sadly, the child passed away on Thursday, June 20.

According to the press release, it is standard procedure for the Maine State Police to assist local authorities when an infant dies, regardless of the situation.

The press release explains that:

An autopsy was conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta on Friday, June 21, 2024. Cause and Manner of death are being withheld at this time.

The press release goes on to say that the Biddeford Police Department and State Police Major Crimes Unit South are continuing to investigate the passing of the child.
