According to WGME, Bar Harbor made about triple the amount of money they expected to from paid parking.

The inaugural season for paid parking in the tourist town, which ran from May 15th through the end of October, grossed Bar Harbor $1.7 million. That money was earned from parking meters, fines for improper parking and permits "purchased" by business owners and employers.

After paying the vendors who provided the equipment, the town was left with just under $1.6 million. They have not decided how to spend the funds.

The intention is to begin charging for parking earlier next year than they did this year. The hope is they'll charge between May 1st and October 31st.
